Sometimes I can't shake the feeling that some people hear things that are not there. Because all the CAN records I own, both new and old editions, sound appropriate to the time in which this music was created or remastered. Especially on the offending track "She brings the rain" you can only hear a very faint hiss, but this adds atmosphere and doesn't make the track sound as sterile as so many of today's productions. My CAN record sounds absolutely clean, no crackling and also no treble hits or waves. And this applies to all three LPs of "The Singles". I even took the liberty of comparing this title with the original LP. The new version is more dynamic and has more of a low bass foundation, which I personally don't find bad, because the quiet and haunting character of this recording with Mooney comes across even better. So if you want to get to know CAN first, you should definitely get this one, and then maybe turn to the more wacky records like "Tago Mago". A first-class pressing, great layout and all records come in lined inner sleeves.

Got mine new today at a record store but no download code. It’s a great comp but I also have a sad face.

Read around the net alot of complaints about this fantastic release, i do not understand.
Here are all the lost B-Sides, the single edits of their hits, what more can one want. One or two songs sounds like it were lifted from an old 7" and restored, but hey it fits the music anyway. Also its a great introduction to Can, cause it spans all their albums (except "Monster Movie" This one any Can fan should have in their collection and "Out of Reach" which there never were a single release for)
For newbees, fans and people intrested in what happened in germany during the 70`s.
What more can i say besides, get it !

This could have been a 2xLP album. No? 19 minutes per side (instead of 10-12 of this 3 disc) is sure enough fidelity. I would have split the album side differently. Future Days would have ended the first. If the mastering/source could be better, why try to pump up the grooves when you don't have to. I don't have anything against a double 12" EP. However this seems to me like a trendy ploy. Disappointed.

I LOVE Can. Can: one of the greatest bands on earth!! Still: I grievances with this album! Especially the mastering on some of the older stuff is not good. Really! Is this from a CD master or what?

Yes - I've got the same crackling on the B-Side ! Seems these records were pressed by GZ-Media (Europe) & this is by far not the first time that this pressing plant issues bad records.
I always send these 'dogs' back, hoping that they might re-learn how to make good pressings ... .

Can anyone else hear weird cricket noises (the insect not the sport) in the background of LP1 both sides A and B? I fear it might be a pressing error. If so, I'm sending it back!

Here's a brief, slightly autistic, review:

You can't really fault early Can, so the first half of this compilation is absolutely stellar, but the highlights are sadly pretty few and far between after the "Soon over Babaluma" period, with songs such as "Can Can" being downright awful.

For some reason, several of these recordings aren't the original single versions:

"She Brings the Rain" has a lot of added reverb (perhaps for that Top 40 sheen?), "Shikako Maru Ten", "....And More" and the ending of "Vitamin C" seems to be taken from various vinyl sources, some more distorted than others, and the intro of "I'm So Green" is missing the unique special effect sound found on the original 45.

Was reluctant to buy this. A 'Best of CAN'? However, it works. I'm not the biggest CAN fan there is but I do appreciate their music. So If you want a good sounding compilation of their work - this is it.
Pressing quality very good, packaging is solid. Good value for money.
