Notes
Band's 3rd single (and the 3rd from their Debut album "The Prodigy Experience").
Released 14 September 1992.
The Single's tagline "Strangely Limited Edition" is printed on Cover. This was because it was initially planed, to be intermediately discarded (and never to be Reissued again), once their Debut Album will "see the Light of Day". High Demand for the Single's Exclusive Mixes however nixed this plan.
Official Music Video was made for the "Burning Version" of "Fire", and was included on XL-Recordings: The Video Chapter.
Of all Official Music Videos made for "Experience" Era Singles, this was the ONLY ONE not to be included on their 1st Official Video Compilation "Electronic Punks". This was due to Cheap and Cheesy nature of its CGI.
Versions of these two Songs, that were eventually included on their Debut Album are: the "Original Version" of "Jericho" and the "Sunrise Version" of "Fire".
The track "Fire (Edit)" that appears in some versions of this single is an edited version of "Fire (Burning Version)" despite it not ending up as the album edition of Fire.
Main Samples used in this Song:
"Fire"
- Introduction and the first two seconds from "Fire !" by The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown
- "Fire !" yell from "Live Jam" by Daddy Freddy
- "When I was a youth I used to burn collie weed in a Rizla" from "Hard Times" by Pablo Gad
("Burning Version/Edit" only)
- Introduction to "Soca Rumba" by Aswad
("Sunrise Version" only)
- Drum Beats from "Panic" by Force Mass Motion
- "Woo Hooo!" yell from "Shelter" by Circuit featuring Koffi
"Jericho"
- "The Walls of Jericho" Chant from "The Badman Is Robbin' / Hold No Hostage / Doomsday Of Rap" by Hijack
- Flute Melody from "Kunta Kinte" by The Revolutionaries
- Quotation from "Come Back To Me" by Anthony Malvo & Tiger
("Original Version" only)
- Screaming from "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)" by AC/DC
- Drums from "Feel Real Good (Remix)" by Manix
- Quotation from "What "U" Waitin' "4"?" by Jungle Brothers
("Genaside II Remix" only)
- "Hey Poor! You don't have to be Poor Anymore!" from "Welcome to Paradise" by Front 242
- Whispers from "On The Run" by Jungle Brothers
- Quotation from "Power to the People" by Public Enemy
- Synth from "Let Beauty Loose" by Nitzer Ebb
- Drum Beats and Horse-esque Neigh from "Concrete Show" by Kobalt 60

- The only saving grace for this ep is Jericho (Genaside II Remix). Should Genaside II have gone onto bigger and better things or remained true to the underground?
- Fire is a decent enough track, but amongst the wealth of classic material Liam produced up to '92 I think even he would agree that it is one of the weaker efforts.
Flip it over to get one of the absolute best Prodigy tracks of any era: Jericho.
This track is one of the most devastating oldschool rave tracks of all time, regardless of the fact it broke into the pop charts.
Pure evil on every level, from the sinister sub bass to the main riff which just screams terror.
And then you get the Genaside II remix, my God!!!
He ramps the track up into a sound that actually could sit alongside the "Big Beat" sound of '96! Just listen to the heavy as fuck kick!
Of course, there's still plenty of '91-'92 'ardkore flavour. Pure mosh, pure insanity.
So yeah, forget the Fire. Head straight to the b-side on this one. - Jericho is a great track. Even the Genaside mix is pretty good. Of course at 140+ BPM its almost Hardcore.
I think this was the last Prodigy EP I bought since the old Rave era started to die about 1992 (at least here in SF, US). - Jericho is an excellent breakbeat old school rave track !!!! Superb work from the legends that is the Prodigy

That's because they intended to sell for 2 weeks. Their album Experience was coming. The single has been re-released but they just left they cover in original state.
