- I was thrilled to purchase this first time on vinyl “Best Of.” Plays and sounds fine, light noise between the tracks but nothing serious during the music. Sound quality is good and worth picking up. Big fan of it being in chronological order as sound quality improves especially after side 1.
Talk Talk put out some amazing music far beyond “It’s My Life.” If you’re looking for a spectacular album from them, this pressing sounds fantastic, with warm and analog sound quality.
https://www.discogs.com/release/3616436-Talk-Talk-The-Colour-Of-Spring - Edited 6 days agoBeautiful pressing and a great decision to present the tracks chronologically. A really enjoyable overview of a most complex act.
- I have a thick card 12" numbered print of the sleeve for this but cannot recall how I got it. Does anyone else have this and know where it came from. Possibly with the promo CD as I have that as well as the standard release
- Edited one year agoThis is a very good compilation for two reasons. Firstly, if you're new to the band then it's a great introduction, featuring a whole host of their most well known tracks, some of which you may be more familiar with than you think.
Secondly, it also has some deep cuts, including 2 B-sides, and a rare edit of the track 'Eden' that appeared on the 'I Believe In You' single as a bonus track. The sublime 'Spirit Of Eden' album itself really needs to be listened to as a complete experience to get the full benefit but the tasters on here should whet the appetite for new listeners nicely.
Of course, it's not perfect. Unfortunately, nothing from the bands final album 'Laughing Stock' is present here, due to licensing issues (I think) and personally I would have switched the last two tracks so the album finished with the endless chord of 'Wealth' just as it ended 'Spirit Of Eden' so perfectly but otherwise I highly recommend this compilation. There will always be differences in preferred track listening but as it's impossible to condense the bands brilliance to a single disc I think the compilers did a really decent job here.
