- Edited 23 years agoGermany, when I hear the name I think of three things, Sauerkraut, Porn and of course Techno. By far the most important of the three is of course Techno and Germany’s leading light Tresor have delivered another quality package showcasing where their club/label is at.
Tresor’s ninth compilation again showcases what a superpower the club and the roster of talent in their label are in the world Techno scene. This release commemorates ten years at the top and is a showcase of the sounds the label has to offer in 2001.
The CD opens with DJ Rush and his banging “Jack your Body” whom is ably followed by one of the worlds best in Ben Sims with “The Basics” doing what his does best with a slamming dose of banging tech guaranteed to work the dancefloor into a sweat. We also get quality tracks from James Ruskin and another of my favourites The Advent proving again that if you like it banging he is your man.
The Tresor sound is far from just banging though as UK wunderkind Matthew Herbert provides “The Puzzle” and Christian Vogel gives us “Angry Sausage Dog”. These two tracks which are heavily Electro driven and will have you in a flashback to the themes from your favourite 80’s video games and their familiar squelches and bleeps. The album pace gradually picks up again as the who’s who of world Techno supplies their offerings. Be it Surgeon on a down tempo breaks tip or the minimal sounds of “My Circus” supplied by Blake Baxter each track is quality.
Tresor have long been considered a leader in world Techno and this album does little to change their standing. Spanning a wide range of sounds and flaunting just how good their production roster is Vol. 9 is a definite showcase of where Techno is at in the year 2001.
