- I spun the heck out of this Disc, it was familiar but new at the time. A little dated in 2022 yes it is. Booming it super loud, people asking this is Blondie?? Depending on where in the world you were when this came out, for me this was super alternative dance music.
I've had this for quite some time and I've listened to it several times. I still think that Blondie songs sound bad done in the 90s house style. I just keep my copy as a wannabe completist Blondie fan. I really can't get past the hokey awfulness of the remixing.
Black Dog's remix of Fade Away And Radiate (108 BPM Mix) is the real hidden gem on this compilation: a unsurfaced slow and funky electronic interpretation
Wow...there are some shockers on here, some escape with being merely banal. They won't date well. Some are already past they're use by....- On my copy of this cd, the Utah Saints' mix of dreaming is 6:21
- Edited 19 years agoNew wave innovator Blondie gets revamped for more modern club floors. There aren't any real surprises here; the mixes seem appropriately careful with the vocals, usually emphasizing the backbeat and updating the melodies with HI-NRG electronic florishes. Phillip Damien adds in a little Eurhythmics on his catchy mix of "One Way or Another," and Pete Arden and Vinny Vero throw in some Latin-Caribbean flavor to "The Tide is High." For those miss the good ol' days of raves, the Utah Saints version of "Dreaming" will bring back all those good hardcore memories, but Armand Van Helden's hard house "Atomic" is disappointingly one-note. The mixes aren't particularly innovative -- they certainly are good for what they set out to do -- until you get to the Black Dog's version of "Fade Away and Radiate." Angular and mysterious, their mix once again shows how ahead of their time The Black Dog were.
