Note: the version of 'Sexy Thang' on the vinyl version of the album is a completely different track to the CD/digital releases. The vinyl version is a peak-time club track whereas the other version is a more slowmo disco vibe.- Edited 13 years ago

Plastic City was a highly creative label. A home base for really good artists worldwide. Lexicon was one of them. This record, the Terry Lee Brown's albums and the Plastic City's 'The age of Search and Destruction' compilation are in my all time top 50. Just for you to know that Lexicon was a duo featuring Dj La Monde aka Len Faki. Len Faki is better known as Berghain's top resident DJ... So the young generation may think he is a brand new artist from the 21 century but he was an electronic music activist since the early 90's. This album 'The Lessons' is filled with jazz influences, samples and chords. The rythm work is pure class. I recommand you to buy this great Tech Jazz album and the whole Plastic City collection. It's a goldmine. - Edited 20 years ago

Sexy discotheque-house from Lexicon on their first album, THE LESSONS. Right away, "Funk Corner" gets you swaying to some sweet piano-line grooves and some nice Hammond organ punches, while "Superstar" has a more solid kick drum. Lots of dancefloor fodder here -- the good kind, too. The steady beat of "Phrunky" gives way to a wiggly acid-funk line; "The Question" and "The Ryker" are much more percussively aggressive. But "Summer Madness" gets us back into the sunshine shining on the block party. "Placenta" and "Kolt Sivers" is the smooth tech-house that Plastic City has become famous for. The final track, "Jazz Field," moves into more downtempo territory; these boys are more than one-trick ponies. Take these lessons home!
