If Lexicon's first album, THE LESSONS, was pretty smooth, than their second, LEXICON, shaves the edges off even further. The tech-house rhythms are still there, but with fewer acid lines and more subtle stabs at melody. Listen to the quiet choral sample that fades in and out of "Melon Call" before fading away entirely; if nothing else, they have a better sense of how to develop a track. And if you're afraid that they've given up on disco, "Sky's the Limit" will reaffirm your faith (even if it does go on for about 2 minutes longer than it needs to). For the real pleasing floor-filler, you can’t go wrong with “Swanky” or the disco thump of “Pluck to Pieces.” It’s an album to get you moving, make no doubt about it, and it doesn’t spare the funk in getting you there.
