Quicksilver Messenger Service – Happy Trails

What a groovin record! This is peak SF hippie sound, definitely on the same tier as Europe 72 for jamming. Quicksilver is so often overlooked in the conversation of great psych/ jam bands. This record has some of their best material, Who Do You Love absolutely RIPS! And the entire b side keeps up with that phenomenal a side. The overall pressing has some rich and full sounds and is definitely hot! For an early eighties press I was expecting a mediocre sound due to the thin vinyl and stigma around reissues from that time being lesser than originals, but was pleasantly surprised. Overall highly recommend this pressing for such a killer underrated album especially for such a reasonable price.

I’ll have to find an OG copy to compare. This one sounds good, but the packaging doesn’t inspire confidence.

Not at all Japanese mini-lp quality packaging-wise. The thin bit of paper holding the front and back of the sleeve together ripped within amater of days.

One of the best SF psych albums and this is a good year to get. Some clean copies are still available. I just got one and what a revelation compared to the digital stream version - so much more clarity and bite.

A majestic mostly instrumental live album of sprawling jams from quintessential San Fran psych band QSM w/ John Cippolina performing wonderful extended virtuoso guitar workouts – an in-the-groove sonic orgasm w/ a trippy vibe.
Seek this album out turn on the lava lamp, the black fluro, light a spliff & sit back & dig it.

Wow, I haven't listened to this in Decades. Bought my copy 1969 (I was 17) and it well worn. Still sounds really good after a good cleaning and a good table and stylus. The guitar of John and Gary are perfect.

Found at the thrift for $1, grabbed it for trade bait. Played it and it’s definitely a keeper. The sound is fantastic!

I have owned this since it came out in ‘69. I can’t begin to think how many spins this has had over the last 50+ years. Still in decent shape. I love this LP.

It uses the same lacquers as the first pressing.

But good luck finding a clean copy of an original.
