Curious as to why this one was reissued? The original sunship remixes aren't going for much and sound good to me!
The fabled UK Garage sound, features in full effect here, on this disc by Jhelisa. My mam's hunky toyboy, "Gavin" can often be found, listening to it at an ear-splitting volume, and leaning back as he begins to bogle. He thinks he is a true and righteous dancehall champion, but I just think he looks like a great big NINNY!!

The Ashley Beedle mix just turned up (in edited form) on a Derrick Carter mix for Mary-Ann Hobbs on BBC Radio 6 Music. Still sounds super fresh.

R.E: The Album mix: At the time of it's release, the context in which this release was widely heard & regarded was electronic. Coldcut I think were among those responsible for this association, or at least that's where I first heard this. There was very much a 'Balearic' attitude in DJ'ing around the mid 90's here in the UK, where if it was good, it was in- how & when you bought it in was the skill. So hearing this layered among Nightmares On wax, down tempo tracks & intelligent electronics lent a vibe to this 12" which today might be lost to anyone hearing it in the context of the now. This is very much a classic, & listening back today, a soulful & masterfully realised late night tale, perhaps waiting to be re- discovered & newly interpreted again...- Edited 19 years ago

Jhelisa's first big splash, FRIENDLY PRESSURE, gets mixed by Cool Breeze, who produced the majority of her album GALACTICA RUSH. Here, he brings out the percussion for some hip-hop thumping and the turntables for some scratches. Wisely, Jhelisa's vocals still take center stage. - Edited 19 years agoIt was rumored the Jhelisa wasn’t too pleased with the two-step mixes of her classic FRIENDLY PRESSURE, but in the able hands of Sunship, she shouldn’t have worried. The “Into the Sunshine” mix is pure garage sunshine, while the “From Midnight” mix delves into moody breaks. The original is here, of course, as it rightly should, as well as the “Quiet Storm” mix from Big Fat & Juicy, who lead the track into easygoing R&B. Friendly, indeed!
