Phenomenal pressing. Flat records, loud and punchy. Sounds fantastic. Very underrated record- Edited 2 years ago

RIP Warrel Dane! Very underrated record from one of the greatest metal vocalists of all time. Great riffs, songwriting, and production from Soilwork's Peter Wichers. Pressing sounds excellent!! - Warrel’s first solo album with Peter Wichers from Soilwork
Released in 2008, PRAISES TO THE WAR MACHINE is the first of two solo albums by Warrel Dane. But this is hardly a “solo” album since Warrel wrote the songs with guitarist Peter Wichers of Soilwork, except for “Equilibrium,” which was written with Matt Wicklund, plus two covers: The Sisters of Mercy’s “Lucretia My Reflection” and Paul Simon’s “Patterns.”
Overall this comes across as a mellower version of Nevermore circa THE OBSIDIAN CONSPIRACY (2010), but there’s still a plenty of heavy and fast stuff. Like Nevermore, there’s a grey, haunting air to the proceedings, whether the songs are heavy, mellow, fast or some combination, similar to the vibe of either “Emptiness Unobstructed” or “The Termination Proclamation.” I name those two very different songs because PRAISES TO THE WAR MACHINE is basically a 50/50 mixture of those extremes.
The standout cut is the head-turning “August,” which is worth the price of admission and easily ranks with the best songs ever of any Dane project. “Equilibrium” is notable in that it combines those three elements noted above – starting kinda doomy, taking a frenetic turn and then throwing in mellow pieces. The pessimistic opener “When We Pray” is another highlight even while I disagree with its lyrical theme (from what I could hear anyway). But, then, I don’t go to musicians for accurate ideology or theology; I go to them for MUSIC and the emotional impact thereof.
The album features 12 tracks clocking-in at 46 minutes, plus a bonus cut for a total of 50 minutes.
