Mercyless is a characteristic representative of its time, international Death Metal according to the trend of 1992. This is a really cool album, the guys play music with an eye on the American spill school and convey their sincere greetings to Morbid Angel and Death on the other side of the Atlantic, but it doesn't look secondary or vulgar. It's funny that this masterpiece was recorded in the devil knows what studio Herisson Studio, and the gingerbread city of Mulhouse is by no means the capital of the world Death Metal. Their sound is more powerful and cleaner than many Swedes and Americans of those years, although producing from a very young Colin Richardson is a very significant contribution.
In 33 minutes, the band concentrates on showing almost the entire genre arsenal. Performed in the manner of the old school, this music is still quite non-trivial, replete with interesting arrangement solutions and generally sounds quite fresh, even today. The writing and recording of the album was approached with invention and inspiration. The sound of this reissue definitely makes a good impression, although it was not possible to find information about how the work on the sound was carried out, as well as there is no way to compare it with the first press or the press from The Crypt, where the remastering was used. A fairly dynamic and live recording, where there is no obvious frequency imbalance, there is no feeling that it was banally made from the source of a CD. If any of the Discogs users have more detailed information, it would be interesting to read it.
In terms of design, everything is done at the highest level. The initial from the picture of Salvador Dali "Christ of Saint John of the Cross" on the cover =) Osmose took a responsible approach to the reissue, heavy gatefold made of thick paper, a very informative insert with interviews and notes, heavy and really nice looking vinyl. The quality of vinyl stamping, and therefore its playback, is at a high level. And of course, as of the year of release, the price in the online store of the publisher and the official distributors is pleasantly pleasing. In many ways, an underrated band, whose album is reprinted in very small circulations and nowadays is intended for collectors of forgotten cults of the nineties. Everything is great here for sure.referencing Abject Offerings (LP, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, Orange Crush with Black Marble) OPLP485
One of the most pointless gatefold releases. The inside is nothing but a terrible, boring black and white photo of the band... Why? Total waste of material.- Edited one year agoMy copy has an issue with the song Flesh Divine. It's a volume or panning issue. It's much more clearer with headphones. The right side either cuts out or pans to the center. Has anyone else had this issue with their vinyl?
Edit; I got a hold of a previous pressing on The Crypt. The problem I'm hearing is there also. So I guess something happened during mastering since Osmose uses the same master. It's just that one song though.
