Puff Daddy & The Family – No Way Out

This is one of the best rap albums I have heard on vinyl. Check my discogs, I own plenty, but the dynamics on this are unmatched. Bad Boy put out some great pressings in the 90s. Need to grab the Lox album next.

Oh, how the so-called 'mighty' have fallen (lol)! Called it way back then, too. Mr. Combs was the one largely responsible for taking what was once a very rich and deep legacy of Black American music and corrupted it to its very core for max financial gain. Shame on those who danced willingly to his vile tune all these years, I shed NO tears for them in light of what's already taken place recently. Maybe now they'll know better than to have gotten in bed with a soulless agent of Hell...

Well…… this is about to be worth 5 wooden Pennies. 🤣

There can be no denying that Sean Combs was an absolute unstoppable force in the music business in the mid to late 90's. Many of the records released on the Bad Boy label are certifiable stone-cold hip hop and R&B classics.

Some of those classic hits appear here on No Way Out. The material released during this period remains my favorite in hip hop (especially the Bad Boy stuff). With that being said I've always wanted to give this album five stars, but I can't do that... for two reasons. The first is the early fade on "I'll Be Missing You", and the second is the unforgivable butchering on the edited down version of "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down". These two tracks appear at the very end of the record, and it's almost like they tried to cram too much stuff on the album and ran out of room for two of the better tracks. If Diddy had removed some of the bloat (and there is quite a bit on here) then there would have been plenty of space to include the full, unedited versions of these two tracks. 4/5

Had 3 copies from two different places and all have had right channel noise in certain parts of side c. One copy had clicks at the end of victory , even after a couple of cleans so I assume it had groove damage.

Sounds ok though if you can get a copy without issues.

there is a great repressing from Europe....it's usually around 100 but really great. i thought that i saw a US reissue...not sure....and it would have been about 4 years ago.
