Soilwork – Figure Number Five

My version has CAP01624 NB1108-2DLT 02 Technicolor in the matrix/run-out.

My copy, especially on side 2, has a lot of surface noise (I've come to associate and expect this with both gold and silver colored records)

The mix could be a little better, sometimes the keys got a little lost in the mix.

I'm hearing some distortion on side B on the high end, noticeable on the cymbals mostly, 6 tracks were packed together on said side so it is to be expected but, luckily, this reissue is very heavy on the bass and mid range so, while said distortion is present, it is located at the back of the music, with this I mean it is not something one tends to focus on while listening. Package is pure quality, poly lined inner sleeves, lyrics sheet and poster. Presentation is Ok, I have never liked grey as a color for vinyl but that's just me. This is one of my fave Soilwork albums, I remember when this record was released it received a lot of heat for having a way too accesible sound, and of course that was what Soilwork aimed at, while the previous record did have lots of clean vocals, it still had that aggressive fast side earlier albums had, but on FNF the band went directly for pop-choruses, harmonized vocal melodies, simpler song structures, less solos and a warmer and more Metallica's Load kinda production, yeah fans would rage upon hearing it, but imo the gamble paid of, this created the archetype for records to come regarding the most melodic side of the band. I was there when this was released, this records hold a special place in my collection and I'm glad I finally own this, even with the distortion issue I mentioned earlier, I would totally recommend this reissue.
