Reviews
- I didn’t have the same issue as the previous reviewer. I think this is a pretty decent pressing. Played it through right out of plastic wrap (ordered online from rarewaves). Minor surface noise on side B but it was fixed with a decent static brushing.
The pressing sounds generally very good. I wouldn’t say the instrument separation is amazing but the songs are busy with lots of instruments (as most Dixie chicks recordings are). Clean vocals. Really nice bass guitar sound. Kick drum could be punchier but I will say that about most recordings, haha. Cymbals are subdued but present.
Honestly for $26 CAD I am very satisfied. referencing Taking The Long Way (2×LP, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, Remastered, Repress, Clear) 88875175841
Does anyone else have a problem of the holes being too small and inner sleeves being too big for the gatefold? Also noise problems and sibilance.referencing Taking The Long Way (2×LP, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, Remastered, Repress, Clear) 88875175841
The discs look gorgeous, clear as can be but they can sound pretty noisy at least on my copy. It’s at its worst on the opening track but on the rest of the album it’s not too bad. Mastering on this one is pretty good, some songs sound more dynamic than others but as a whole it is well mastered. (the closing track I Hope is a definite highlight in the mastering, it sounds significantly better and more lively than most of the other songs to me) I’d say for what it is and how cheap you can get it this is a really good pressing, but it’s definitely not perfect.referencing Taking The Long Way (2×LP, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, Remastered, Repress, Clear) 88875175841

Sounds quite good. Not knock-you-down incredible, but quite good. I haven't done a comparison with the black version, but not unhappy at all with this one. Five stars since it's not intended to be audiophile and I haven't identified any issues at all with mine. - Edited 4 years agoUpdate: 3 copies of this album bought and returned. There is a really irritating pressing flaw at the end of Side C where the final 60 seconds of the song is ruined by a scraping, flickery noise where the grooves are not formed properly. it is a really irritating flaw on one of their best albums. MPO pressings are so awful these days.
Yet another Godawful MPO non-fill mess. 3 copies of this album bought and returned to different retailers because of non-fill. Scrape, scrape, scrape across side 2. MPO, Optimal and GZ are the absolute pits (literally in GZ's case). So many MPO records bought recently have filling issues: Marianne Faithfull's last album, Bruce Springsteen Broadway album to name just two. Really frustrating and I can't believe I am saying this but after nearly 40 years of buying LPs I think I am actually going to stop buying brand new releases. The records are just such awful quality.
I am quite sure someone will post a review saying their copy is fine but honestly 3 copies bought and returned infers that at least part of the pressing run is crap - too many copies struck from the stampers I suspect - and QC is non-existent-you can see the pearly white dots as soon as you take the records out of the sleeves. Frustrating beyond belief.
