Notes

Little Girl Blue is Nina Simone debut studio album. It contains the biggest hit that Bethlehem Records had during its existence, the Gershwin ballad "I Loves You, Porgy". It also contains the song "My Baby Just Cares For Me", which became a hit in the mid 80's generated by an animated music video heavily played on MTV. Nina Simone was paid a one-time $3,000 for the royalties for the recording. Keep in mind many USA Bethlehem pressings are made of polystyrene.

In my humble opinion just a very averagely made vinyl of great songs but nothing special as far as quality of vinyl or effort put into the record it’s a cheap copy.

I see lots of high praise but wondering if anyone can comment about the sound quality of this vs. OG. I have an OG but plays a VG+ to VG.. I generally tend to like OG versions of records since no matter how good of a pressing or mastering engineer, the tape is old and lack's punch in relation to OG's.. wondering if anything is preserved or made better than the OG. Thanks.

Never thought I'd say this about a Pure Pleasure reissue, but I prefer this over my AP 45 and recent Kevin Gray mastered BMG stereo versions.

If you have true dsd capabilities this album is a must, analogue productions did an excellent job with the material they had.

The depth of sound on this pressing is incredible, the nuances in Nina’s voice are on full display. The low end is rich and Nina’s dynamic playing & arrangements make for a wonderful listening experience. Find the cleanest copy you can and enjoy!

Not sure why they mixed Nina Simone on left speaker only and piano in the middle... The opposite would've been more logical...

Whilst the sound quality isn't fantastic. Nina's vocals come through loud and proud. I would hazard a guess and say that this is copied from a vinyl record, my copy is spotless but still has a few very minor pops. I'm not and never will be a fan of coloured vinyl (I have a few older ones and don't care for them either) as I just think it's gimmicky. Gatefold sleeve is very nice. Overall a decent enough copy of a truly classic jazz lp, as others have said not the best source material but a clean pressing and cheap!

I really hate that her voice is only in the left channel. I think I need to find me a mono copy.
