a great soul disco gem. gets same-y at points, but over all a solid listen anchored by rock your baby and you can have it all.. plus look at those cut off jean shorts! pressing sounds just fine, given that era in pressing (thin and flimsy).

A nice album, but the repetitive nature mentioned by some reviewers outside of Discogs is the fault of the keyboard player/principal composer who tends to stick to a formula, and emphasised by continuously overusing his glissando technique as first heard on Rock your Baby on some other songs. Having said this, there are some tracks that have a different groove and character. Maybe more freedom should have been given to the other musicians to contribute and vary the dynamics. I would give this album a 3.7 stars overall.

i love how you can still see the old imprints on the back (printed in germany) but the italian print just scanned the cover and batched it loveless on this one xD

Sweetest chords this side of paradise, tik-tok funk box patterns (c/o the Roland TR 77 if u into make & model numbers) & - oooooooh- ‘I Get Lifted’ (a classic Bronx break) to ice this fine, fine disco cake. Yup, he got me & rocks me like I am his baby. Lovely stuff.

This looks like just the US pressing in a Jamaican printed sleeve. I have uploaded the full Jamaican pressing here:

Hey you KC Sunshine fans this album was co-written by Harry Wayne Casey (KC) from the Sunshine band. Funny how music goes, it's not Rock Me Baby that keeps this lp going these days, it's I Get Lifted that gets sampled. I still like this album and it gets a once a year play (like today) lol.

My ears tell me that there's no doubt that the BBR CD release of the Rock Your Baby album was mastered from vinyl (to my disappointment). I've yet to encounter a George McCrae digital release taken from the original analog masters except for the Rock Your Baby and I Get Lifted singles on Rhino compilation CDs. It makes wonder if the original album masters were lost or destroyed.

The description of labels should read as spelled not spelt. Spelt is a type of grain used in making flour

There is a certain dullness to some of the tracks which could be audio filtering to cover up the crackles from a vinyl drop / rip. Not 100% sure but Cherry Red / BBR don't exactly have a great track record with vinyl rips being sold as remasters.

"Rock Your Baby" & "I Need Somebody Like You" to amazing soul tracks on one great album! Best album by George McCrae for me.
