I remember reading Bob Dylan saying that he actually preferred Frank Sinatra Jr's live show's than his dads. He went on to explain that it was a cracking night out, with similar musical class and pedigree, without all the fuss, paparazzi and famous people. Frank Jr was actually his dads musical director for many years, a very talented man. This record is stunning, with personal notes from Frank Jr, and great photos. This is Swing, updated and made relevant for the new century. This fascinating music, just refuses to die, and is it any wonder, when modern records like this one, sits proudly with the rich musical heritage of its past.
If your new to Frank Sinatra Jr, don't hesitate to begin your collection with That Face! It has a bit of everything, exuberant upbeat swing belters, that is counter balanced with sad, contemplate, reflective heart breaking songs. This is a brilliant record, full of sublime material, the variation is just incredible.
If you have an interest in modern era Swing, then this will be an essential addition to your collection. It's great listening to the old recordings, but it's very important that new artists perform, compose and record new music to keep it vibrant and alive. Frank Sinatra Jr, with this record, is leading by example.
