Outward journeys, yeah, right. This is the most inert, anaemic, airless, stupidly useless pastiche end-to-end. Somebody should tell the Ghost Box guys that vintage music, even at its most obscure and unambitious, was never this dead, so lacking in ideas, personality, idiosyncracies. Never like this generic pizza of synth arpeggios, with John Foxx on top in way of grated cheese. Ghost Box is the logical consequence of the nostalgia trend started by Boards of Canada — themselves a vacuous self-pastiche act since their second album —, and their catalog amounts to the musical equivalent of Brexit: a self-absorbed navelgazing circle of Little Islanders, of no significance whatsoever for those looking for substance. referencing Outward Journeys (CD, Album) GBX029 CD
Cassette and vinyl, no cd.. very frustrating. Who on earth wants tapes?
