Vangelis – Blade Runner

I really do not understand the positive reviews for this version. The mastering on this pressing is pretty far from the 2015 pressing and the CD anniversary and is clearly only focused on the mids. Missing a lot of highs and lows that are really distracting and take a lot away from the experience when you have heard the other master. I also have a considerable amount of noise throughout the record on both sides. So much for virgin vinyl. The 2015 pressing is not perfect at all but the wax on that pressing is so much quieter and features only a handful of loud pops rather than constant, medium level noise which I find to be much worse. Even if you get a great quiet version, the mastering is simply missing too much to be anywhere worth the hefty price. The presentation itself is fine but the color scheme is clearly more washed than the original designs. I would highly recommend just purchasing a sealed or NM copy of the 2015 version as the mastering just as so much more range.

So, so good - everything already mentioned about the pressing is spot on. Examples where various disciplines come together to produce something as seminal as Blade Runner are rare, and this pressing is the perfect way to honour that.

Is this the long version of 'end title's or the one on all the other LPs?

Seems like the best version of this bootleg series, before they went off the rails and started including music by DJs and dance acts that has nothing to do with the film.

When the "Blade Runner Trilogy" set was released the original 1994 album was remastered and it is these remastered recordings that are used on the "Retirement Edition".

This is completely false, with the exception of the Audio Fidelity SACD, no CD iteration of the 1994 album has ever been remastered.

Any idea how we could get the the five disc+1dvd Esper 'Retirement' Edition (25th Anniversary Culmination)?

Just brilliant. The sound is amazing, awesome, beautiful etc. And of course the music is flawless.
I guess I have a lucky copy - the surface is dead quiet (which is very important for this album).

I would have agreed with all the good reviews on here about the sound on this album until it got to the very last track “Tears In The Rain” which was half way through when it started clicking and repeating. Visual inspection showed a definite difference in the grooves at this point which is a slightly different colour to the rest of the track. Very disappointing. I’ll return to Amazon and try another album - fingers crossed.

I bought the WW 2015 vinyl version yesterday in a physical music store for €22. Flat sound in terms of volume, but if you have good equipment, no problem, excellent sound quality, and with the advantage of only one vinyl, GREAT.
If you want more volume...I also have an original copy in CD format, and it's the same issue, great sound quality, and low output volume. Regarding the latter, I will tell you that, think and feel this type of music, except for the well-known exception,...we are not dealing precisely with HEAVY TRASH PUNK EXTREME METAL, but with something wonderful for listening at night and without disturbing the neighbors ..."except for the usual exception" 😀
