A masterclass that set the bar for other Progressive House records that followed during the mid - late 90's period.

"Are You Willing To Testify ?" Huge progressive house track, from the huge siren sound that drives through the track along with the drums & percussion, to the dark undertone of the synth, building & building & of course breakdown with the preacher style vocal. Big sounding track that still sounds great today. The other tracks are worth a listen too with "As Dawn Approaches" being a solid progressive house track that twists & turns with the various rifts that drop in and out the track, "The Prankster's Mardi Gras" again a progressive house track with a slightly different feel as the name suggests and finally the "The Guide" which is a breaks track, with spoken vocal from MC Buzz B.

the vocal "are you willing to testify" is taken from MC5 - Ramblin' Rose (1969)

I first heard Slam play this track at the Sub club in Glasgow. The heat is like a wall coming in from the freezing wet Scottish winter. The soundsystem hits you in a maelstrom of percussive incisions.
then out of nowhere blairing sirens and a screaming preacher comes on like nothing short of the bomb squad, ripping through the sea of nutters stripped to the waste on the dancefloor, the ceiling drips sweat...

"The time has come for each and every one of you to decide if you're a part of the problem... or a part of the solution...are you ready to testify?

The best thing about this whole EP lies in the very clever usage of the MC5 sample on "Are You Willin To Testify", the track itself is nothing remarkable, but this speech inserted on the drop-out adds everything it needs in order to be unforgettable when heard in the right occasions (for me itw as back in 93 in one of my 1st rave experiences):
“Brothers and sisters, the time has come for each and every one of you to decide whether you are gonna be the problem, or whether you are gonna be the solution. You must choose, brothers, you must choose. It takes five seconds, five seconds of decision. Five seconds to realize your purpose here on the planet. It takes five seconds to realize that it’s time to move. It’s time to get down with it. Brothers, it’s time to testify and I want to know: Are you ready to testify?”
