Helicon (4) – Helicon

From Glasgow, Scotland comes this ethno-psychedelic debut that mixes an experimental approach with guitars, synthesizers and sitars. There’s a darkly mystic Eastern tinge to many of the songs. Others have waves of reverberating guitar chords over electronic hums. Drones, chants and metaphysical mantras send eerie throbs of trippy electro-twisted vibrations out in desert sand ripples, awakening Motorik metronomic beasts from their cosmic hidey-holes. Sound something like a mix of Goat, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Voice Of Seven Thunders, Hawkwind, Hookworms. “Helicon” will raise both your consciousness and the hairs on the back of your neck with its meditative mixture of mind-expanding madness.
