Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass* – Whipped Cream & Other Delights

Whipped Cream & Other Delights seems to be one of those albums that is seen at used bins on a regular basis.

The cover may be more well known than the music!

Having heard it recommended on a few YouTube videos I added it to my list when out and about digging.

Finding a ‘65 OG mono in really great shape I grabbed it.

I was pleasantly surprised how quiet the vinyl is. I don’t have a dedicated mono cartridge but my vintage Sansui has a mono switch and I’m completely impressed with this pressing.

Basically a stereo mix in quad. Could have been better engineered for sure.

unfortunately mine shows weak pressing quality, clicking permanently although cleaned and the sound is also flat.

This sounds excellent. Very well-balanced with great bottom end. Recommended.

OK, here's something unusual... wonder if anyone else has or knows about this. I have a copy that came in the normal jacket & has a normal label on one side. On the other side it has a United Artists label for the James Bond Thunderball soundtrack. The recording on both sides is Thunderball...

Track 1 is "A Taste of Honey" and not "A Tasta of Honey" as shown on this release version. I have submitted an edit.
This pressing I received is nice and flat, not the poor pressing quality some have mentioned elsewhere. Sound is really good, with great body/bass and nicely balanced mids and highs. It puts my other vintage New Zealand pressing to shame. Very happy with this one.

Mine did not come with a card for a digital download. Has the same sticker as cover of this one though, and is also on 180g.

WC&OD or how to time travel back to the sixties golden era

This album is strongly linked to my memories, specially the cover of "A Taste of Honey" which received intense airplay back in the years of my childhood. Undoubtely one of the pieces of resistance of every easy listening session, "Whipped Cream" reaches heights in terms of musical pleasure no other contemporary record is able to provide. An elegant and joyful performance assortted with bits of spicy sound is the trademark of the TJB, fully epitomized in this vintage collection of awesome tunes the serious listener shouldn't miss.
