Great tracks, but watch out. I've had my copy since new and there are pressing faults (lots of little bumps) on side B which cause loud pops and skips. Side A plays fine - which is prob the side your after. But it's a shame as side B is great too. May not be all copies.

Instantly recognizable bassline, this was one of the biggest tracks in its day and still kills when that drop goes!

happy to be deep is clearly borrowing heavily from another house record (italian) from (1993) https://www.discogs.com/Workin-Happily-Better-Things/release/193311 which was one of the first anthems in what would soon become the UK Garage Housey 4/4 style dominating from 95 through to 98 and beyond

When I left London to move up north - Speed Garage was completely dominating the place and this was the biggest of them all followed by 'Gunman' and 'It's A London Thing' amongst others - even now (20 years (!) later) it sort of defines the whole scene.

Along with 187 Lockdown's "Gun Man", one of the seminal Speed Garage anthems. Tim Deluxe and Omar Adimora took drums from Kenny "Dope" Gonzales (listen to The Underground Mix of "I Get Lifted"), a synth sample from Armand Van Helden's CJ Bolland Remix, and the classic Tina Moore vocal loop, and added a warpy rough bassline that would set the scene for many, many imitations.

Even after all this time, people still haven't realised this track is called RIP Groove...

There is definitely something about a single sided promo. It doesnt make any sense though. "This copy has the Top Cat Vocal Mix too!" "Nah your alright" "If you buy this version you get a funky little Tuff Jam Dub on the flip!" "I prefer my flip smooth like a Brewers chops!"
I guess its knowing it was the first press and the chaps behind it felt it was strong enough to stand alone.
All time Toptune fav!!!

Double 99 - Ripgroove defines the genre of Speed Garage and if you ask for a track this usually heads the list. What a tune!!

Apparently a Test by the 99 boys they truly hit the jackpot with this track and influenced much of the scene and work produced thereafter. Earlier works had the same kind of feel but there's something in this track for everyone. Whether the epic build up the highs or lows it's truly a masterpiece of it's time and regularly gets stuck on an oldskool or 2Step garage compilation.

If i had to say which tune i've seen people go the craziest too it's got to be this. The bassline really takes people into a different dimension the only floor - the follow on track often disappoints!! The original mix here definitely deserves an "Oi Oi".
