WE WERE ALL surprised when this Auckland, New Zealand band came out with this record back in '93, to hear the "new" musical approach and the name truncation from Jean Paul Sartre Experience to the JPS Experience. The big noticeable difference? The amplified guitars. The punchier sound. No loss of melodica; no breast reductions; JPSE are underneath it all bigger and better than ever. Songs like "Breathe" fit very nicely into the new mold - "Block" reminds me of the older sound: sparse simple gracefully shy: "change my ways - to unblock / because my way was blocked." Keep them close at hand, whenever you need to clean your palate.

Angel has one of the best introductions to any song I have ever heard. If your CD jumps to the start again after 20 seconds in and loops over and over your in luck (like mine.)
