John Prine – Sweet Revenge

I bought this today, took it home, cleaned it up, and cranked it up. It sounds GREAT! It is, in fact, Kevin Gray's cut from 2018. This completely destroys the digital versions, even on a modest system. The guitars sound lifelike, John's voice has great nuance to it, and it just flat-out rules. Get it!

Just picked this up and it is terrific. I think the deadwax matches the 2018 release cut by Kevin Gray. I recall the original pressing sounding good, but hard to imagine better than this.

My copy sounds great but both sides are labelled as side A. Thankfully its pressed properly and I have both side A and B. Anyone else have this issue?

Typically if Kevin Gray is involved with something, there is a high chance of it sounding great. That's certainly the case here with his all-analog cut. Rather than a tip-on jacket like we got with the KG self-titled reissue, this one is a direct to board printed jacket. No big deal. The record does come with a lyric sheet and poly-lined inner sleeve. Not sure where it was pressed from the deadwax...looks like it could be a Pallas (Germany) or Record Industry (Netherlands) job. Highly recommended.

Always a favorite of mine - happy to finally have it on vinyl (again).

My copy is flat, quiet, and close to perfectly centered. It sounds terrific, with proper bass weight and great dynamics. The jacket reproduction is excellent, true to the original except with update copyright info. I like that the bar code is on the hype sticker and not printed the jacket. Sticker says "All-Analog Cut by Kevin Gray." A bargain.

Perfect pressing. Flat, dead quiet and sounds excellent. A great deal for this one.
