Notes
Chill Out is the third studio album by The KLF, released in February 1990.
It is one of the earliest ambient house concept albums, portraying a mythical night-time journey throughout the U.S. Gulf Coast states, beginning in Texas and ending in Louisiana.
The album was conceived as a continuous piece of music, reportedly recorded in a 44-minute live take, with original KLF music interwoven with samples from songs by Elvis Presley, Fleetwood Mac, Acker Bilk, Van Halen, 808 State, field recordings of Tuvan throat singers, American, British and Russian radio broadcasts and sound effects taken from Jac Holzman - Authentic Sound Effects Volume 2.
It incorporates elements or melodies from the "Pure Trance" singles 3 A.M. Eternal and Last Train To Trancentral.
A revised version, credited to The Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu and titled Come Down Dawn was released on streaming platforms on February 4, 2021 ("the day before Chill Out, but 31 years later") as part of the Samplecity Thru Trancentral reissue series.
Most notably Come Down Dawn is stripped of the most distinctive samples (Elvis Presley, Fleetwood Mac, etc.) and includes excerpts from What Time Is Love?

Show All 83 ReviewsI can add to the acclaim. I think it's a superb pressing considering it's on clear vinyl. I wish it was black vinyl as I tend to find all coloured/clear vinyl has additional noise. But this isn't noticeable on playback rather when observing the waveform after recording.

Could anyone send me a decent quality picture of the original "File Under Ambient" sticker? Want to print one to stick on my clear pressings because I'm a stickler for detail. Thanks!

Like everyone else says, it sounds incredible.
Dead quiet. Amazing mix. And I’m a truther on all this “it might not be a bootleg” speculation.

Honest question. What constitutes an “official release” or more specifically, what makes this one “unofficial” per Discogs? In the comment section of the 2017 press, several users close to the band and reputable sources in the music industry have all, separately, confirmed this isn’t a bootleg. Just curious to know what boxes aren’t being ticked that keep this debatably labeled as unofficial.
