In terms of pressing quality, it's the same across all of the 3xLP sets; flat, minimal surface noise, loud and lovely. Would absolutely recommend.
NTS 2 is possibly my favourite one of the four sessions, at least as of writing this review. My love of tracks such as "xflood", "gonk tuf hi", "e0" and "9 chr0" cannot be understated. I think this one is slightly more melodic than NTS 1 and also serves as the intro to the more ambient-esque stuff explored throughout the sessions, eventually culminating to "all end" on NTS 4. Listening to this one on wax is genuinely a surreal experience, and sitting there in awe while "turbile epic casual, stpl idle" blasts through your speakers is something I could recommend to any human on this planet.referencing NTS Session 2 (3×LP) WARP 364-2
The sound design of the tracks is otherworldly. Simply an altogether different dimension. This record alone is worth to empty your bank account and get a proper hi-fi system. I did it anyway...referencing NTS Session 2 (3×LP) WARP 364-2
This is definitely my clear favorite of the four NTS volumes. There's a lot of engaging and arresting stuff in these 120 minutes, so it never gets boring. Some of it is even downright catchy. This is the best I've heard from Autechre in years. The other NTS sets are good, but they tend to fade into the background. This one grabs, and keeps, your attention.referencing NTS Session 2 (3×LP) WARP 364-2
Just going thru Session 2 after some time away ;) First two tracks are ok but xflood is an audiophile monster, dark and menacing post ambient. The next track Gonk Tuf Hi slips, slides, cuts and vibrates like a possessed electrical substation - not very musical per se but still entertainig. Around minute 4:30 all accelerates briefly into quasi techno number.
Next - Dummy Casual pt.2 - one can almost identify melodical elements. IDM traces can be heard together with some serious shuffling. Some really nice reverbs pop in creating illusions of vast spaces.
On to the next one: Violvoic. Again one of the slower ones with deep soundstage. Bent metal soundsculpture. Sounds terrific on proper hifi system - you can almost touch some elements. I can imagine certain MCs riding on its beat. Around minute 5 it gets more minimal and every part has own space to breathe.
All tracks are really interesting - go listen!referencing NTS Session 2 (3×LP) WARP 364-2
This is my least favorite of the nts sessions, but it still will transport my mind into an abstract landscape. Highly recommended, but would probably perfer nts 3 or 4referencing NTS Session 2 (3×LP) WARP 364-2
Having listened to the 2nd LP set now, I'll repeat what I said about set 1:
'Since I see all the issues with warping for the boxed sets, I will mention: I got the 4 individual 3xLP sets. Basically because it's what my local got first.
Anyway, records are flat and quiet, sound great. So, if issues persist with the box, maybe the individual sessions are the way to go. Either way, I'll post reviews on II-IV as I listen to them.
And if anyone's looking for a review on the music: So, so very good.'
