La Luz (2) – Floating Features

Is it just me, or does the cassette release actually use Dolby noise reduction?

First up, I really love this band & they're great live. I love this LP too, but the mastering on bits of this LP really detract for me. I know the internet is full of places where people moan about pressings etc. but this is the first time it feels like it's really bothered me. Particularly on the track Cicada it sounds like there's something gone awry a the mastering stage as it sounds crunchy and over-compressed to me. Doesn't sound good to my ears at all. I've also got a digital version of this and it's the same, so maybe it was the mix? I can't put my finger on it, and it's a shame as the LP is fantastic. Like I said, I think this is the first time anything like this has bothered me.
Anyway, it doesn't ruin things, it's the music that matters and I'd recommend this LP to anyone and recommend seeing them live too when we can go to shows again.

Excellent album! Shana Cleveland is phenomenal. The entire band is great.

I doubt if there's a white vinyl version : I have two copies and they are cream coloured (with some yellow thrown in). Also a bit difficult to keep the gold and 'cream (so called white)' versions apart when they are still sealed. Only one sticker marks the difference it seems.

Decent pressing of a superb record with good dynamics and a well detailed sound. Some pops here and there but nothing too bad, arrived completely flat as well. My only problem is with the mixing on this thing: the bass is way too loud and distracting most of the time, it looms over the whole album like a pumped up giant. Great riffs and bass playing all the way, loving it to death but sound-wise it's just way too flashy and thick for my taste. Dial it back a bit if you can!

Terrible pressing. My copy is noisy as hell. Words.
