This is a fantastic compilation, perfect on a bleak wintery day. Very impressed with the recent late night tales pressings, the vinyl is very quiet, and full of dynamics. Great work!

Checking in with #247. Loved the sonic journey through this album. It's a very well curated LNT. I guess it's not for people who can't handle a few spoken word tracks, but I thought those only added to the strange, mystical atmosphere of this tracklist. Great mix of gorgeous, intimate songs and avant-garde selections.

Love these comps because of how diverse and all over the map they are. But wow is this one is rough.

Nothing about it is “fun”. Just heavy, ponderous & slow with a lot of chanting and talking. And if that wasn’t a big enough drag let’s wrap it up with a poem about death.

I don’t know what sort of a scene would spin tunes like this late at night (a bunch of wiccans in a tent in the woods?) but I don’t think I’d fit in very well.

Initially, I held off a bit on this album, because I couldn't find a track list or samples, other than Poem about Death. However, I kept coming back to it. Agnes Obel. I love her other albums, and well, I trust Agnes, and I'm glad I did.

The music that fills this album is mostly not by Agnes, but via her selection. I'm glad I trusted my gut. I am digging this album a lot. It's quirky, fun, and just the kind of esoteric journey I enjoy. I'm reminded of the soundtracks for Tarantino's films a lot with the selection. There's some serious jams in here - Stuff I might never have found otherwise.

Obviously, it's not for everyone, and it's not what most of us probably expected from a new Agnes Obel album. But for me, this is fantastic, and I'm all for more. After another full Agnes album, of course.

I hope Late Night Tales continues putting these compilations out because I've found so much good music through them. Not just that but every release, even by old vinyl standards is stunning in its packaging, artwork and sound quality. Add to that how affordable they all are, I honestly think they are setting the standard for consistent craftmanship in vinyl production. Wish more labels were like this,

All that said, this release hasn't grabbed me at all. A lot of the tracks are either too arty farty and pretentious or just downright boring. Doubt I'll be spinning it for a while.
