It sounds really good, but it misses the hidden track.

Sonically speaking, I don't consider this to be a great pressing. It's listenable but generally quiet and lackluster.

I just picked this up on a whim from a local store.Never had heard about the pressing before. Not that I was in need of yet another version of Nevermind, but it felt and looked so proficiently done. And boy,was I right.
Let's start with the cover: the heavy cardboard is beautiful to the touch, the print makes the artwork shine and the inner sleeve is the best quality I've encountered.Part of my approach to guide me in various fields of life is the notion that it always tells when people love what they're doing;and whoever contrived the Vinyl to be in such decent packaging surely had my trust and respect(despite of the missing poly inners).I paid 30$ and took the sealed record home.
When I removed the disc ever so carefully from the cardboard (a lot of damage is done here;folks ruining the delicate vinyl by pulling it vigorously out of its containment),I was stunned -the thing was pristine, glossy and the brown labels immaculate. It actually looked so gorgeous I had to force myself giving it a wash on my vacuum.
As the shibata had dropped and the drums had set in,I was on my feet again in a second and pulled my Sonopress 1st (aka German or Euro 1st) from the shelf. What the heck was I just listening to?!
That was 36 hours ago;in the meantime I conducted a thorough split run test that at times was joined by my US 1st;but most of the time the Austrian copy was striving to hold a candle to the German.
I can only hint at the arduous procedure a proficiently and somehow objective (it never fully is) split-run testing requires, let it suffice here to tell that it usually takes 2-3 days until one gets to the point where you can trust your sensory capability.
I've had to learn some humbling lessons in relation to this myself, and I try hard to keep the margin for error to a minimum.
But things are not that complicated here (a much tougher case being the US 1st vs German 1st);the goal I set for myself was pinning down the kinship of the two releases that made me jump from my seat in the first place.
Compared with many other versions these two don't go to extremes in the equalization;and succeed in maintaining a most welcome tonal balance.
Both are very powerful and dynamic with serious punch down low, while the fabulous mid range puts the band in your room.Sound stage, separation and tonal correctness I've always cherished in my German 1st,and will do so in the Austrian from now on.
Matrix is A-1,B-1;and no Made in Poland anywhere.
          OK,time for some last words:
This is some Killer Vinyl, that sells for ridiculous money.
          Sure made my day.

Same as the others, it was pretty dirty out of the sleeve with paper dust and what looked like some finger prints, but just wiped it with my carbon fiber brush and even before running it through the cleaner, it played very well for me. Almost no noise and sounded great.

This is one of those pressings that makes you feel like you are hearing the album for the first time.

Note for those looking at this (Target Silver 2019) vs the Target Silver 2022 repressing: The 2019 was pressed by Pallas in Germany. The 2022 was not.

Bought this one used at Reckless Records in Chicago. Side A sounds terrible. Lots of surface noise and the mix is so far off you can barely hear any bass or kick drum. Side B is the complete opposite. It sounds super clean and the mix is perfect. Kinda bummed about it. If side A was as good as side B, this would be an amazing record.

I've owned a copy of this pressing. Even in VG+ condition, it's an immersive experience. For those with qualms about collector prices... This is the only etched, analog MASTERDISK pressing we will ever have. It's possible that the original stampers were lost forever in the 2008 Universal fire. It's a cultural artifact, on top of a hot pressing.
