Took some time to find US press, looks like only US copies mastered for vinyl, while EU copies have same compressed mastering as digital version
My copy sounds more dynamic compared to digital, also guitar has less high frequencies - in other words, album sounds a bit less Immortal, a bit more Bathory, quite fitting

Sounds bad and cheap. I’m highly recommend not to but it.

My copy sounds great, but there is a little bit of surface noise throughout. Not enough to detract from the music. Enjoyable album.

Confirmed many of these were warped. 3/5 were at the shop that I got it from. Proceed with caution.

This album is superb and great, but this vinyl is not good! The sound is terrible, wtf is the label doing?! No quality control whatsoever.

Decent album. I don't hate it, but it just sounds like black metal/Immortal by the numbers. Theres nothing on here that blows me away or is going to convert anyone who isn't already a fan. Lets hope their next album isn't quite as dull as this.

Nine years after their last album, this local band continues to press onward into battle. After continually upping the energy ever since their monumental 2002 release, Sons Of Northern Darkness, this release proves that they are not to be taken lightly. From the very start we are confronted by a deafening sound of hasty drums, overdriven guitars, and the screams of Demonaz that throws us off a cliff and into the pits of Hel below. I am shocked by this first encounter, and to think after nine years the band would have taken a Black Metal to a lighter shade. The guitar tone feels like an ice spike poking its way through my eardrums and freezing my brain in battle mode.
The Gates to Blashyrkh opens up, letting me glimpse a small peek back in time. Excellent riffage drives the main verse section, while a gentle guitar picking forms the chorus line. This is a quick paced song, as most of them are compared to their earlier work. The aggression in the vocals are still very on point, fitting to the realm of all darkness and cold. There’s a very nice pure guitar and vocals breakdown in the middle before we are thrown back into the unending grimness of screaming extravaganza.
As we journey onwards into the realm of the gods, there are paths of prolonged riffs, and tons of catchy themes to bang your head to. The freezing guitar tone dominates the soundscape, with the throbbing drums coming a close second. Although the vocals are great in their own way, they remain mostly in the background due to a hugely amplified guitar tone. A notable exception is one “Called to Ice”, where there is a part of screaming that exceedes anything else on the album. Fans of their earlier works will feel right at home in the sixth track titled “Where Mountains Rise”, where a guitar intro sets the theme for the whole song. An intro where the guitar plays a dominant part, and a chorus where you just want to scream your lungs out.I think it’s quite impossible not to like this song, even if you’re not a Black Metal fan in general. The end of the song is a feast in guitar and drums. I’m simply astonished that this entire album is so full of different sounds without the use of a synth anywhere, which proves that great music can be made on “primitive” equipment.
Lastly, we arrive at the longest song on the album, the nine minute closing track “Mighty Ravendark”. Beginning with a simple guitar intro, similar to “The Gates Of Blaskyrkh”(But to me it’s more like the great “Beyond the North Waves”, because that’s the one Immortal song that I love the most), the idea of the song is slowly expanded unto another version enhanced with amplified guitars and spot-on drums. As the vocal section of the first verse starts, I feel right at home as the gates close behind me. As we arrive at the chorus part, it’s simplicity and catchyness overwhelms me. Could this be the song that could surpass my favorite? As it continues to unfold, I recollect countless playthroughs, revisit old feelings, and rest assured as yet another sublime guitar picking section seeps through my earducts. Similar to my previous favourite album of theirs, they have saved the best for last. I grin in joy as everything I like about Immortal is embodied in a single, monumental masterpiece. A very fitting end to a sublime album, and perhaps the start of yet another great era in the Immortal universe.

At last, the true Immortal are back! I've been waiting for this since 97! Demonaz brought back the old school black metal into the era where commerical black metal is on it's peak & every black metal fan is expecting shitty catchy songs from black metal bands (including Immortal fans from Immortal). The old Bathory feel is back! Also guitar-wise one can immediately sense it's Him and hear the difference. The guy has the sense of depth in his riffs. Not like Abbath, whose riffs (and also drumming might I say) sound like masturbating with the guitar. Truly surprised with this old-school masterpiece! Hail Demonaz! Hail the true Immortal!

Absolutely gorgeous white & black splatter on the vinyl. Decent center labels. kind of primitive in the artwork in this gatefold presentation but I get it they wanted a simple to the point oldschool vibe for this album. Very simple layout which reminds me of pure holocaust in it's layout style. The album sounds amazing, no EQing required just put this bad boy on and enjoy. I really like that black metal production quality is much better now than in the 90's. It is a great album with Demonaz taking over for Abbath he sounds so close to Abbath that you don't even miss Abbath. The album has the sound of the Demonaz era guitar riff wise but also some of the more slower and epic Abbath styles, Immortal are back & this album is AMAZING!! \m/ The Kings of Blashyrk metal have returned Cheers from Canada!

                        This vinyl sounds too quiet.
I sampled a few tracks, and it looks like Nuclear Blast use 15 kHz crop here.
It's terrible. Not worth any money.
Better buy it on CD, it will be the same quality and same crop but it will cost you less money.
