Tom Waits – Closing Time

I have one with same matrix, etchins, runouts but the blue sky and clouds label

This pressing makes the more recent reissues of this sound like they're sourced from a cruddy 8 track. Easily the best I've heard this album sound.

Hi: I recently bought a pressing of Closing Time and even though the seller inclued the hype sticker for the 2010 Rhino all analog Chris Bellman reissue, the deadwax reveal it is the 2010 Rhino Canada pressing with no CB on the wax. Does anyone knows if this pressing is similar to the US or Europe ones? And why no CB initials?

Curious as to why both this Quality Press and the Don Mills Press are marked as ‘75 reissues. What dates them to 1975? Reissues of what? Shouldn’t one be the initial Canadian pressing? Or is this a missing variant in the database?

This 50th anniversary vinyl sounds wonderful. The lead electric guitar tones, trumpet, and harmonica are incredibly clear and present in the mix. My copy was relatively clean with no pops though disc 1 has a slight warp that dnap. I really like the jazzy sound of the drums on Old Shoes and Ice Cream Man. Listening to Lonely you can see how quiet this record is and really get the feeling of hearing him playing solo with a piano in a quiet room.

Mine LOL when you hear the 2010 Rhino Bellman ( did I mention this about 30 times now ) mastering ,,, causes me to weep every time I hear it ... It's that amazing ... I purchased this warped Record Industry noisy bass heavy muddy tape copy Miles Showell half speed mastering now why was that needed when the LP is running at 45 RPM ( the engineer that makes every classic album sound like crap )

OKAY I'm going to let you on a little secret ..... There are hard to find I luckily got mine years ago at 25 dollars new ... Although it's very hard to tell if they are used or new BECAUSE this copy and the other 3 are not sealed they are bagged with no seal on the cover and no strip either to tell either they're like taped on the back in a plastic bag all mine came that way ....ALL FOUR and the rest is in the INFO ,,,, IF YOU SEE RM AVOID IT ALL COSTS .... They're a whole back story to this release. You'll thank me lately if you're like me and weep to this LP everyday of the week ...

Gotta agree with most everyone else. Dull, unimpressive sound on what appears to be a nicely manufactured record. Too bad; Closing Time deserved considerably more love than it received here. It's okay...
