Nick Drake – Pink Moon

A little late to the discussion, but my copy has the orange label, green palm tree and light blue ring. Matrix numbers seem fine. Green lyrics on left side of the gatefold. Confusing me is that on the back cover it says “Printed in England by Robor Limited. No address under Island Records, just the “I” logo above. Originally bought in the 70’s.

Nick Drake's final album is a haunting mix of beauty and sadness. This time around, he's entirely solo, with no string arrangements and no additional musicians. Just Drake's voice, acoustic guitar, and piano on a couple of tracks. So it's a very sparse production. This pressing is acceptable to my ears, it's not pristine, there are a couple of faint pops on each side, but it sounds warm, organic and intimate, with a lot of detail to the vocals and impeccably dexterous guitar playing. Five stars and a sad face.

My copy says manufactured in Canada on shrink wrap. Picked it up new in 2025. Same exact matrix numbers as this pressing - all stamped. Flawless pressing and sounds excellent.

I don't have any other pressings to compare this to, but this sounds excellent. Super quiet vinyl, as it ought to be with performances of this nature. The mastering is similarly excellent, with very little compression. Plenty of high frequency information left in the mix, but not an overly bright record by any means.

This is a risky one. My copy is terrible: many pops, much siblence, and the smallest spindle hole I've ever seen. Could barely pull the record off the platter. Should've returned it when I had the chance.

I have to agree with everyone below me. This is a beautiful pressing, not dirty out of the shrink and very powerful and dynamic.

I'd be willing to bet 1-9318-H-3, 2-9318-H-3 are incomplete entries. I have a copy of this that has those etched matrix's that also include other info in the runout including the ✲ indicating that those are actually Capitol Los Angeles pressings. I know this is for reviews but if you have this in your collection and you should double check your wax to make sure it doesn't belong to the other entry. On that note, the original pressings sound stellar. I can only attest to the Los Angeles pressing and it hits all the marks on my system.

Bought this online in the sale for £13.24 and is a perfect listen. Flat with no pops or crackles.
The sticker on the rear MADE IN GERMANY would make anyone happy as long as it doesn't say MADE IN CZECH REPUBLIC.......

Nice album, beauty in the simplicity. The pressing is good quality, had this brought in to the US as the pressing plant listed in the UK is far better than the US. The album doesn’t hold a candle to the old pressings but it is cheap and accessible. Of note, there appears to be several errors in the lyrics printed on the inner jacket. Several times I noticed the lyric being off to what Nick was singing.
