Nick Drake – Bryter Layter

Does anyone know how many of the original pressing exist?

To cut to the chase… My copy has the dash on the label. ILPS-9134, with A and B denoting the sides. On the run off section, it has ILPS 9134, no dash and a small A (different font and slightly elevated). Then a dash followed by 1 U. Also just outside of the label are the letters GD. On the B side, same thing only the letter is an L. Light blue Island label, white inner sleeve and the Basing Street address. Slightly textured cover.

Any idea how early a pressing? Bought it new in mid-70s.

Assistance appreciated.

Never heard of this guy until my wife got this. I found that he is a respected songwriter that wasn’t popular with the masses but with current musicians today. Worth checking out. My pressing sounds fantastic! Highly recommended!

Stunning. Flat, and beautiful dynamics, no surface noise. It amazes me this kid sold just a few thousand records during his life. I'm so grateful for the studios that recorded him, and recorded him so well, and for Nick for his incredible talent, and putting it into the groove.

Sound is phenomenal. Quiet vinyl, crisp clear audio with gorgeous detail. These ‘77-‘78 Antilles pressings are the best deal for an early analog pressing, while still not necessarily “cheap” or common.

Yes. This is the one you want. I ordered this in from Europe with his other records too. I wanted the optimal pressings as the US ones are not good. Really well done here, love the jacket. Pressing is top tier, no issues. We are lucky to have this out of Optimal.

Solid pressing, sounds fantastic and detailed. Like listening for the first time. I didn't realize this repressing was first released 11 years back. Mine had no download code, just a 'made in Germany' hype sticker.

My copy came pretty warped and has surface noise all over it (egregious in only a few places). Overall lIstenable, but certainly not the best pressing you can find for this marvelous walnut of a record.

My copy ( purchased in Australia) has a round black, Festival special import sticker on the front cover, on the upper left corner. On the back cover, there is a white serial number sticker on the upper right corner. My copy is numbered 39 256. Does anyone else have a copy with these stickers?

This is truly a fantastic pressing. The instrument separation is really outstanding. Echoing all the good reviews on here, this is worth every penny.
