I recently went on a road trip with my wife and I had this playing in the car stereo. It hit me that this is probably one of the most well sequenced and well thought mix compilations I've ever heard. What makes it so great is that Sasha and Digweed didn't care about including the latest club hits just for the sake of being "hot". They took tracks which were several years old and fused them in because it was best suited to create a whole cohesive journey. This is beyond good. And it haven't aged a bit. This is the compilations that each and every other compilation should use as a yard stick. Essential stuff!

Embarrassingly - despite owning the 3 x 12” LP, I never actually sat down and listened to the two mixes by these two fellas … for almost 30 years! I don’t know why my stubbornness in ‘96 refused to listen to it: Renaissance 1 and 2 were - and still are - my favourite mixes… possibly I thought it would be too ambient or something similarly silly

My God it’s good! I know most of the tracks inside out from mixing them every which way over the years… yet neither mix gets boring.

Every song a heavyweight, not a dud in there with each mix supremely crafted … Pete Lazonby’s Wavespeech is such a weird deep dark monster for example… but it slots in effortlessly before Evolution pulls the listener out of the slum

In contrast to the slew of crap Ministry Annuals, Cream Anthems et al which followed the first Renaissance mix in 1994, this is hands down one of the best and still most unique DJ mixes I’ve heard.

I know it’s a trad/ trite thing to say - but they really don’t make music like this anymore!

          Superb

          … Hell’s teeth - BdG’s Heliopolis in the right hands - ooofff!!!

… Ha! Mad - I’d come up with that final 3 track sequence myself! … Guess it’s a no brainer

          Oh well … glorious

Here’s a remastered mix with some additional stuff at the end - sounds bloody amazing

Just purchased a NM copy of this. Not a scratch, pop, or hiss to be heard across any of the eight sides. Incredibly high quality pressing to have held up so well after all these years. Such a seminal album for me growing up — couldn’t be happier.

Очень хорошая техника сведения. Второй микс менее выдержан по настроению. У первого интересный урбанистический ореол. Оба они тяготеют, скорее, к фоновому прослушиванию.

What can I write that's not already been written on N.E.?
More than 20 years and still sounding incredible...
A very special for me this one, because well, i wasn't really in prog-house until four years ago! And i'm sixty two now (yes i swear it's true!
In fact I had been in rock, pop, indie, and after the climax of the magnificient nineties, having heard (and for some seen) Oasis, The Stone Roses, Primal Scream,TeenageFanClub and so, I considered pop-rock couldn't go higher and moved to more exotic countries like gothic-metal and prog-rock. This takes us far away from progressive-House isn't it? Right! But one day that i was looking for some new prog-rock record to buy, instead of "progressive-rock", I just typed "progressive" in the search box, and beetwen a Porcupine Tree and a Dream-Theater record, I saw this "INVOLV3R" thing by a bloke called Sasha. It was tagged "progressive house". Hum, what could this be? I lend an ear, and boy, I was done! After listening 10 times to it, i began looking what this guy had done before, and I discovered that he had made his first record with another bloke called Digweed, and the damn thing was called "Northern Exposure". I managed to get an mp3 version of the thing, and while listening to it I felt shivers, my eyes came wet with tears and in the same time i felt irresistible joy. Well, since then, i gave up rock music and began to explore this fascinating new musical continent. Now i know every record of Warren, Seaman, Cattaneo, Zabiella, Holden (balance 05 is my next target!) and many others. BUT this week is a very special week, because after years of hunt through records sites, I finally found an afordable and in goog shape digipack of the english (2cds) version of that "Northern Exposure" masterpiece and while the sound fills our living room,

Unpopular opinion - I don't think Underworld - Dark & Long (Dark Train) was a great fit for the second disc. Everything else, however is flawless (even after all these years).

I suspect Digweed was responsible for the ending of the second disc. He had a habit of throwing in mismatched tracks at the end of his mix CDs during this time. Take GU:Sydney (Albion - Air) and Bedrock 99 (Bedrock - Heaven Scent) as examples.

Funny as to how "rare" this is but almost a 1,000 people have a copy. Great tracks....yes....but yet another in the conundrum of ridiculous pricing.

Am I the only one who can hear a mix-fault/transition fault on 1 of these cd's? any knows who did mixed this cd? pls let me know in a comment if you did found the same mix-error by point out the targeted cd, the songs mentioned and the mix-in-time so I will aknowledge that. Furthermore, a good classic analoge mix on SL-1200's, good phrase and key mixed result, as that really was hard to accomplish back in the day, respect to these brothers, they gave new way for opportunities to others !
