Tom Waits – Swordfishtrombones

This pressing is really good. No complaints. Sounds as good as it should. Highly recommended.

No complaints. Silent, flat, and a terrific soundstage. Victor Feldman's percussion sits sweetly in the foreground - as Waits confidently roams across both channels. It really does sound divine. Not the impenetrable beast I once thought it was. Jump in and soak up the soulful junkyard blues.

I have several versions of Swordfishtrombone (Island first press, reissues, Anti, Remaster, etc.) but Japanese press makes all the others sound flat and muddled. It’s pricey, I know, but you will never regret it buying it if you are serious about listening to Waits. You will only regret you didn’t get it sooner.

Pulled this off shelf today and was floored how dynamic and awesome it sounds. I’m very familiar with this album and have heard on CD, streamed, etc. but never heard it like this. I checked runout to see if this was a special audiophile version I’d purchased because sometimes I forget what I have. Surprised to find the United circle U stamp and then look up on Discogs and find it’s just a basic no frills repress. Sounds like some people have had pressing issues though but mine plays perfectly. I’d say definitely worth the gamble finding a good one if considering.

Great pressing, so hats off to the Dutch. I just bought a near mint copy from Record & Tape Exchange in Greenwich, London. The vinyl is deeply musical, with great timing, and it's very quiet during the silent sections. A pleasure for the ears.

My second-hand copy sounds great - very dynamic, with a lot of bass depth. Doesn't suffer for being on a single disc, rather than being spread across a double LP.

My copy has a pressing error near the edge that renders both "Underground" and "Just Another Sucker on the vine" unplayable, needle bounces like a fuckin' pogo stick. Rest of it sounds great, though, which makes it all the more frustrating.

The album sounds great and the mastering is clear - but strangely for a brand new record I needed a wipe/clean it to get rid of Mr click/pop/crackle which is very lame.

The sound is excellent. The low frequencies are sharp and deep. The vocals are right in front of you. I’m just wondering... I’m not good at this. How do you determine what is a re-release and what is a remaster.
AND FURTHER. I think in the matrix number option - 1 side 1 - an error has crept in after 8 there should be 6. That’s how it is for me. everything else is the same.

Best album by Tom Waits. This is where he finds his style.
