Wayne Shorter – Adam's Apple

I hesitated for a long time to buy the "Music Matters SRX" version, but after reading the very mixed reviews, I realized that a Kevin Gray mastering is still a KG and that the work was identical. Only the pressing plant changes, and this one isn't manufactured by RTI...
And I'm very glad I did!
This "Classic Series" is close to perfection. Absolutely quiet.
The balance, the dynamics, and the depth of the soundstage are beautifully detailed.
I'm used to audiophile pressings from Tone Poet, VMP, and SRX, but here, I'm not at all disappointed to have chosen the cheapest way.
I don't see what the SRX could offer me more... and for the price of €20 instead of €75 (€150 now), there's no brainer.
This is the best value version.

Exellent smooth jazz record. One of my favorites and a definite recommendation. Typical Blue note quality. 😊

Flat, dead quiet, and show's the artists at their best. Well done!

Side Two of my copy is profoundly off center. It's giving my needle vertigo. The pitch is as audibly wonky as those current "Tone Goblin" made from the goofed up acetate tapes. (Check my comments on that series if they haven't been expunged by this website.)

Coincidently I bought this to replace the off center Scorpio pressing with an imperfect Side One. I guess you can't have everything at once!

My pressing is fantastic and the mastering is wonderful. Quiet and dynamic, just how we like em!

Side A is good but side B is off center. Tonearm sways with audible pitch wavering toward the end. Otherwise, sounds nice and quiet.

These Blue Note Classic Series have hands down the worst quality control of any records I've ever bought, just bought a batch of 4 of them, and every single one has pressing defects...

I thought I was familiar with all of Wayne Shorter's BN releases but I must have been sleeping on this one (perhaps in part because I dont love Joe Chambers) as it's excellent. I love Herbie Hancock's work on it in particular! As other noted, production quality is excellent.
