Official EP/Album DR: 13 - So happy to finally own a copy of this stellar record. The music just oozes out of the speakers. Thick, warm, essential stuff. Listen after midnight with candles to transcend.

Official EP/Album DR: 13- As xidnpnlss had well explained, the balance is surprising me. Strange choice to put Wayne totally on left and a little overpowered than all the other’s instruments.
After searching for videos, it’s true, Wayne is most of the time more on the left side of stage but… is it a valuable reason to mix like this?
I’m not a sound’s master as Kevin and, probably, this choice is calculated and if he was on center the other will be less represented…?
I have a total trust on Kevin’s works, so, I’m sure it’s the best way… just, I’m surprised.
After a deep cleaning with vinyl gel cleaner, the record who was already silent, became more dynamic and clear. It’s simply a prefect pressing.
The presentation is very simple but clean.
For the price it’s perfect. referencing Juju (LP, Album, Reissue, Stereo) 84182
A terrific album - basically Jackie backed by Coltrane’s quartet rhythm section. I think this is one of Wayne Shorter’s best albums if not his best. And this Van Gelder-mastered 1970s repress sounds amazing. An affordable way to obtain a great sounding copy of this recording.- While this 24-bit 192-kHz remaster sounds amazing, I do have an issue. All of Wayne's saxophone comes out of the left speaker only. Doesn't seem so bad at first, but eventually my left ear is ready for a vacation. I fixed it by looking dirrectly at the left speaker 🔊 👀
- Edited 6 months agoBeen waiting years for this pressing. Love, love this record. Probably my favorite Shorter solo.
I’m a little disappointed with this mix tho: imo Shorter is mixed way too hot. He overwhelms all the other instruments. Also, the band is crowded into the right. Maybe both an inherent drawback of transferring mono to stereo?
HiRes Tidal (van Gelder) doesn’t suffer the imbalance in Shorter and the instruments are better diffused.
That aside, excellent pressing that I definitely will not be returning: wax is silent and solid. Detail is superb. Great dynamics and the instruments are much fuller.
Debut III / OM10 / Mani / MF A3.5 / Contour 1.3SE - Wayne Shorter’s Juju, released in 1965, is a remarkable album in the post-bop jazz genre. Featuring Shorter on tenor saxophone, the album showcases his complex compositions and unique, often ethereal style. The band on Juju includes pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Reggie Workman, and drummer Elvin Jones—all members of John Coltrane’s quartet, giving the album a sound that blends Shorter’s voice with Coltrane’s influence.
Now vinyl, is very clean as other have mentioned. The floor is dynamic and broad I found on my system. Grab this version while it’s out there for decent price
