- Great album and my favorite of all Andrew Hill’s work! The disappointing part was my album had so much surface noise even after a cleaning. I’m returning this copy and hopefully the replacement doesn’t have the same static and ticks on the entire A side.
- I had the 2006 repress... Which is not well balanced and very tiring. Until now this album was good to my ears and my taste but not my favorite from A.Hill...
Now, thanks god, a Tone Poet version came and... wow ! Night and day compared to the 2006.
All instrument at the right place, at the right level, everything is extremely well balanced and enjoyable.
3 times in a row I listen the record... It's now, probably my favorite A.Hill album, thank you Kevin Gray ! - Edited 2 months agoThis sounds more like a Lee Morgan album than an Andrew Hill album. When Morgan plays with Booker Ervin, it sounds so great and so right. Any Ron Carter fan also absolutely must hear this record (and see the great photo of Carter inside the gatefold) Unlike some of Hill's records, this is very easy to love the first time you hear it. Piano does not sound as vivid as the other instruments, typical Blue Note piano sound. Also typical is the weird left-right separation on the soundstage with most of the band coming from the right speaker and Morgan's trumpet coming from the left.
Wonderful music and great photos inside the gatefold, especially the picture of a gently smiling Booker Ervin, whose playing, for me, is the highlight of this excellent album. Photo on the front cover of the album is blurry, low-res, looks like shit. The usual sturdy jacket. Agree with the previous reviewer that the new RTI inner is a welcome upgrade. - A very enjoyable listen. The pressing is quiet and clean. I was pleased to see that the inners are no longer the clear plastic sleeves but rather the poly sleeves.
- Underrated record! I think this pressing sounds great, but would love to hear someone compare it to the new Tone Poet!
- For the price (I paid $17) it’s hard to go wrong. Great album and the pressing is good enough. Not the greatest mastering ever but still quite enjoyable. Fantastic lineup

This album is pretty over priced generally, but having said that it's fantastic.- Edited 4 months agoDespite receiving a warped copy, the recording is silent and the sound is clear.
Unfortunately, the instruments are poorly balanced and the sax is aggressive and tiring, mainly on "Mira" where It covers the rest of the audio spectrum.
The whole thing is not pleasant to listen to.
I don't have other versions to compare this album to but I don't recommend this pressing.
I hope this album will be repress by Tone Poet or Speaker Corner one day...
