Andrew Hill – Judgment!

As with all the RVG remasters, the transfer is excellent. Jones tends to go off on some wild tangents that just seem bizarre and do not really mesh.

Simply bloody stunning! Soundstage is immaculate, I feel like I’m at RVGs! Worth it if you can’t shell out for an OG.

I am relatively new to jazz and I really enjoy this album. I feel like it's an album I will live with and learn about for many years to come. It's very weird that this record is out of print on vinyl. It should be kept in print. Andrew Hill was a genius and all of his records should be available to the public on vinyl. If Blue Note can't or won't do this, they should license the album to someone who will.

I just got this pressing. Anyone know what year this is from? Surprised to see it listed without a year. I’m assuming early to mid 70s as it has the VG stamp.

Outstanding album. Accessible, but still has that edge that makes Hill's compositions and playing so unique and fresh-sounding, even today. The music isn't as restless as some of his later works, but hits the spot. This is about as good as it gets if you're looking for something maybe a bit more adventurous than say Black Fire, but not quite as out there as Point of Departure. Interestingly, it's not as angular as Smokestack, recorded just a couple weeks prior, and I think the addition of Bobby Hutcherson on this record gives it some great colour.

The cover art perfectly fits the nighttime mood on the music within, and this 1975 pressing sounds excellent.

This pressing sounds very good. Excellent alternative to an original or Music Matters pressing for the money.

My copy is loud, clear and dynamic. Perfect companion to his colleague's 'Dialogue' LP.
