The UK never had a strong rooted history in Gospel music unlike in America, where Nu Colours failed to make a breakthrough into the UK top 40 unlike the Sounds Of Blackness who found some sucess around the same timr. However this is one of those singles where the B side far outshines its more commercial A side with the heavy bassline groove underpinning the soaring vocals of Fay Simpson on 'Greater Lover'. The Ethnic Boyz push the levels further on the remix & strip the track back to its fundamentals. It was quite a popular tune on pirate radio at the time leading to a jungle rework by Soundman & Don Lloydie who for some reason replaced Fay Simpson for Elizabeth Troy. Nu Colours never really bettered 'Greater Love' & it deserved to have much wider radio play but nonetheless it remains a Streetsoul classic.
