Nice compilation of tracks. Not too many tracks squeezed on each side. Sound is solid.

The "Melatonin" by Damon Wild on this compilation does not match the "Melatonin" on the Nuclear Sun EP it's pulled from.

At the first moment you hold this cd in your hands without looking on the tracklist you might think that is a release without the power of hard and bassfull tracks. Just a simple piece of nature – a leaf is it and this piece of nature gives the release the title.
Maybe the compilation producer(s) have meant that every track is a individual leaf of the big tree of this musicstyle the compilation was made under. I would place this style between Techno and Acid and somebody could find little Trance marks – for example in the Nightvision track ‚Melatonin’. By the way this is the rare chance to get the B-side of the EX-20 on digital format because on cd-releases mostly appears ‚Nuclear Sun’ which is doubtless a track graps for your heart. I can not stop listening to Wild’s tunes he creates in the 92-95 years – such secret/underground hammer tracks for the soul – he was the one of the world’s best track writers.
Back to the release:
The compiler was a friend of the techno collector because he selected only the tracks you can’t find often on other cd releases and even
so they are marvelous and come in full length versions. Apropos full length – the longest running tunes are the JFK Project and the Mad Scientist tracks – but they don’t get boring. ‚Dallas Texas’ comes with acid drops over some nice 303 blubbery and drifty 4/4 bassdrum groove. The following Mad Scientist track has also the blubbery under another good 303 bass pattern but is a little bit more darker funky.
If A is best and F the worst I would rate B that means this are two very interesting tracks.
Solid State is a Peacefrog Records artist and the track has a bit of the Robert Armani Chicago stomping power, a good track again.
On 5th position you can find in my eyes one of the 2,3 best tracks of this Leaf cd compilation; Fred Giannelli builds a hypnotic driven techno track with this unique cheeping and squeaking, most of the Early90s-Ravers knew from the clubs and raves.
The Communique Records track ‚Eupepsia’, a real strange name, marks a little break because it is more calmer. Random XS is represented by his DJAX release ‚Give Your Body’, a pure acid track, typical for the music style of the deserved Dutch label and it was,
I remember, one of Friedeman’s hit tracks. Back to the more fat typical analogue sounds: DJ Hud aka Freddie - the analogical warrior – Fresh contributes ‚Off Balance’, the last track on the Analog 06 vinyl. Acid-Techno in the purest form, Fresh takes us with him on a trip, interesting and varied. Freddie has also released a few legendary 12inches on Experimental Records/ NY, real Killer gems, and from this label is the ninth track. Like the last track, the tenth one, has Damon Wild the finger in the pie but in the case of ‚Osmosis’ now in collaboration with Ray Love, also one of the Experimental Records artists who are unforgotten because of massive dreamful underground tracks. If I would rate again I would give all of the three last tracks a „B“, so the result is a cd-release with a quality which is so good that you have to search for this very long. It’s a (TB303-)tiger but looks like a sheep.
