referencing I Like It (12", 33 ⅓ RPM) CC8601
This track is no Garage House. Before 1993 Deep House was mainly made in Chicago and Garage House mainly made in NY. NY has more Latin influences, is more churting (clubbish), smooth and adds a little R&B. Chicago has more Soul, is more raw, has deeper bass and had more European influences.
There are two types of Deep House. Chicago Deep House (1987-1992) and Club House that sounds like Deep House and nowadays everything is called Deep House. For me (and I write this under a less significant Chicago Deep House track) Deep House after 1992 is Club House, after 2004ish Deep House resurfaced in the more general Classic House revival. Out of that revival new produced Deep House (many combined Techno to it) became a popular genre of its own. Now it looks like everything is being called Deep House. (even Minimal Techno with hint of a Soul baseline) With hindsight Club House that have similarities with Deep House tracks (from 1993-2004) are now called Deep House. They we're NOT called Deep House at that time (correct me if i'm wrong).
Genre confusion is made by people with no knowledge of history or those who don't care but still use the genre names.
