The Amsterdam-based duo Wanderwelle returns to Silent Season with their second album, which is inspired by the last years of the life of Paul Gauguin that he spent on the island of Tahiti. Gathering of the Ancient Spirits tells the alternative history of his search for a land which is untouched by modern society and whose inhabitants were still dependent on the gifts of nature and connected to their ancestors. During his stay, the painter encounters forgotten rituals and the primordial beings which haunted the island since the dawn of men.

Still on heavy rotation. My favourite of theirs until now. Concept, music and vinyl + packaging are just beautiful.

10/10 The cover art is sublime and the music is superb. Organic sounds, music for the spirit and totally positive vibes.

Music for the man, not for masses. I just would like to point that, as noticed by everyone here, the prices of this masterpiece on wax are rising as we have many "sharks" around us. This is not the first time that it happens with a Silent Season's release - take Segue's Pacifica, for example. Without and above any judgment regarding those people interested in money, here's a point that this (and other labels) should care about: be exclusive or inclusive? I don't know what's Silent Season's idea behind it, but, why don't they repress those amazing pieces of art and let their releases reach those who NEED it? After all, it's all about love...

The modern Mr. Henri Rousseau's Dream! Totally different vibe to the first album, but equally superb.

Sounds like a winner, a huge step forward from their first album. Sounds timeless, a tad like a Michael Brook LP going dub ambient.
