Whispering Sons – Image

Bought my copy from the band's merch stand at a gig last week.
Agree with the previous commentator that this is a good pressing. No complaints except that the download was missing. No hype sticker either. It also happens to be a rather good album.

Fantastic pressing, silent and no warping. The recording is excellent, it would be nice if all the pressings were like this...

Whispering Sons is a reinterpretation of post punk and cold wave that sounds as if it has never been away.
Compared to their 2014 ditto named debut track, lead singer Fenne Kuppens has grown way more into the lyrics bringing them full of confidence and loaded with energy.
‘Got A Light’, ‘Hollow’ and my favorite ‘Waste’ all start with subtle reservation, gradually get more intense and finally burst into these intense pieces of drama, while ‘Alone’ is a very accessible new wave, post punk track with instant hit power.
They definitely know their classics and albums like Pornography from the Cure, The Script Of The Bridge from The Chameleons or Bastogne from Red Zebra come to mind, but Fenne’s very distinct low voice makes all the band’s output unique.
Brilliant album and I have no doubt this is only a beginning.

Quite disappointed by the album and the pressing itself. I was pretty much looking forward to this debut album as I loved their first EP. Unfortunately, the songwriting is far from the high quality level they started with. It's monotonous from beginning to the end. Production is on a low level, too. Regarding the packaging the thinnest cardboard has been used for both sleeve and inner sleeve. Consequently, both had already a seam split when I received it. However, will see them live in a couple of weeks. Hopefully a better experience than this album release.
