Sun Ra – Lanquidity

Anyone know what year this copy is? or decade? ty

Is the sound quality of this superior to the vinyl in any way? I'm trying g to choose thd right format for ultimate joy

Could anyone tell me if this 2021 pressing comes from reliable sources? ,,,,and will the cd sound better? I no longer go for format first. To me if i have a record i love on a first vinyl pressing which sounds muddy or inferior and find a cd of superior quality ill sell the vinyl and keep the cd. As is the case of Sun Ra's'Art forms...'

My first copy was also warped (nasty dish-warp, very prominent on one side, not so terrible on the other). The 2nd copy had the tiniest edge warp but it plays great. Mastering is lovely on this reissue. If you can deal with the frustration / Russian roulette of getting your hands on a playable copy, it's well worth it.

2nd copy from different indie shop, also horribly warped. Poopy.

Replacement copy looks perfect in every aspect. Looking forward to a cleaning and listen next hour. The cover was not stressed. Again, previous copy was likely warped by an overtight shrink wrap.

My copy received around Christmas 2022 from Amazon was good looking surface wise, but horribly warped. Perhaps up an inch and a half two times per revolution. I never put my cartridge on it! Had a lined inner sleeve too! The shrink wrap was super tight. The cover was creasing almost in the shape of an LP at the top and bottom. Maybe that was the culprit? Two nice plusses and one serious minus. Returned to Amazon (free of course) today. Considering ordering the 4Lp version now.

Well I seem to have got lucky for once. Spotless vinyl, really quiet pressing and the mastering also seems top. I have the original and got this for the extended version. Compared to the original, there's little really very little if any difference in quality

Clean, flat and dead silent. The dynamics are fine. Very pleased with this record.

If anyone is curious, I've decoded the Lanquidity HDCD, and it is one of the "useless" HDCDs - it uses zero HDCD features (no peak extension, nothing) - so the undecoded HDCD data and the decoded HDCD data are exactly the same, and there is no benefit to owning the HDCD.
