Notes
Before the Flood is a live album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan and the Band, released on June 20, 1974 on Asylum Records in the United States and Island Records in the United Kingdom. While in later years earlier live recordings would be released, this was the first live album that Dylan released. It is the seventeenth album by Dylan and the seventh by the Band, and documents their joint 1974 American tour. It peaked at number three on the Billboard 200, reached number eight on the popular album chart in the United Kingdom, and has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

- Notes above list DSD 64 but the 2023 reissue seems to indicate DSD 256. Either way, I think this turned out great and am very happy with it.
- Great sound, great packaging, no pops, clicks or unwanted noise. I really have to wonder about some of these reviews complaining about sound issues and blaming MOFI with the usual crying and whining. Maybe your equipment isn’t up to snuff or maybe you need to properly clean your lp’s before playing them?
This is the best that I’ve ever heard this album sound and it’s a hell of a deal for only $59.99 on the Mobile Fidelity website, not to mention the 33rpm almost made me think that it was a supervinyl pressing! - So this is one of my dad and Is favorite albums
I have personally found it very difficult to find in the wild in any appreciable condition, suspect it was one of those party albums back in the day
That alone I think makes it worth it, my copy is flawless and so is the jacket
Sound? I think it holds its own with a direct comparison to lossless stream and has better bass as some have said - Finally picked this up. Was skeptical as I’m not a huge fan of the mofi ‘Rock of Ages.’ Fears unfounded, this blows away the CD I’ve had for years. The vinyl is so quiet I thought it was Supervinyl.
- In this Spanish edition there is a lack of agreement between what the LP sleeve says that sounds on sides 2 and 3 and what is really included in them, in reality they are interchanged and the labels of the discs do correctly list the songs that they contain, due to this the list of titles that appears related to this edition is wrong.
- I mean just look at the set list..
Real good sound for a 33
Wild arrangements - lots of energy from the band, some real great versions - Edited 4 years agoAn album I've listened to for decades and this is the best I've ever heard it. It is a live recording so will never reach the heights of a studio album, but the mix sounds right on my system (which makes sense since it is a remaster and not a remix) and my copy doesn't have any noise. Completely disagree with the previous reviewer.
I also really enjoy this live album, so I disagree with my wife regarding the content. This one isn't for everybody. I like it because I don't like the Band enough to listen to one of their albums all the way through, but think it works in this context with Bob Dylan keeping it interesting. If I had one complaint is that I would've had the Band do about 3 less songs and replace with more Dylan, but they didn't consult me.
