Stunning flat vinyl, dead quiet. Buddy's voice wraps you in, the sound truly sounds 3D. Awesome pressing!

There is an Analogue Productions version of this album and I will someday own it. I have their pressing of Buddy’s second album and it is Stunning! But this Waxtime pressing is Truly a hidden gem! The sound on this pressing is Fantastic! Aside from very faint surface noise that in no way affects the sound, I really can’t imagine how it could sound any better! Clean quiet pressing with a wonderful sound stage and crystal clear highs mids and strong bass! This will definitely stay in my collection even after I get the Analogue Productions pressing. I highly recommend this pressing to any Buddy Holly fan! It is a staple in the history of rock n’roll. You will Not be disappointed
Edited one year agoBrunswick put this one out in 1957 and here it is as a reissue in 180 gram VINYL...At the time Buddy was the eldest of the four man group at 21...What a ride they took...short but oh so wondrous...This LP captures the good RAW Holly and the Crickets playing the soon to be immortal music hits...He took many boring old timey country tunes and put a modern spin on them to make them awesome to hear...Key to so much great music is if it has legs...Man, Holly's musical legs are longer than the babes in the ZZ Top video...Enjoy history...Enjoy Buddy Holly and the "CHIRPING" Crickets...
Does anybody know how to tell the difference between the maroon label first press and the maroon label re-issue?
What really shines on this reissue are Buddy's vocals. The recordings sound incredibly fresh for being over 60 years old. Kevin Gray and company did an outstanding job bringing this LP back to how it was meant to sound. Definitely worth the $35!
The closest you’ll ever get to hearing Buddy and the Crickets live. Chilling to hear him with such realism and fidelity.
A milestone debut album.
Massive influence on musicians past & present.- If you can't find an original, I highly recommend this great-sounding, low-noise reissue.
