This pressing sounds great ! It has (hand etched) "Bell Sound" + "sf", etched in the runout area. (Sam Feldman,American mastering and lacquer cutting engineer). I can't imagine that the 1975 1st pressing (more expensive) sounds any better !!

Totally agree with PlayaPlaya. This release absolutely smokes the 1975 Nigerian copy (I have both so I can tell). I was blown away !!!
If you research the best audio quality of this masterpiece (one of the very best African records ever made), then go for this 1975 US release. You will never regret it !

To say this pressing is mediocre is an understatement. Cover is heavily blurred, vinyl sounds like it was ripped from an mp3. I scored this for $18 and I felt like I overpaid by about $8 lol. I guess this will do til something better comes along. Pay no more than $20.

Does anyone know where these Kalakuta french pressings are sourced from? I'm hoping they're analogue because I'm very disappointed with the Knitting Factory pressings.

I feel happy to have this on vinyl but the sound is not good at all. Lots of surface noise on a cleaned M record (straight out of the sealed sleeve) and lots of clipping. A bit painful to listen to it seriously but it gets diluted when there are other background noises in the listening space. Not for analytical listening, but then again, that's not the main point of Fela's music anyway...
