Reviews
- Edited 4 years agoJunior's Sensational Mix features the piano riff from Holloway's disco classic Love Sensation at the bridge - hence the title of the remix. I wonder how many club kids in the year 2000 caught on to this? :)
- “Listen to Loleatta and let me tell ya something…” opens the no-nonsense diva in sprawling, gloriously dramatic voice on this stellar house music comeback. The most sampled voice in house always manages to breathe palpable depth into the songs she sings, rising above the hectic pace of the percussion; this is again the case. It’s outrageous that anyone with Loleatta’s vocal capabilities should be without a major label deal, but KSS are probably very glad to acquire her services, and we should rejoice in the rare opportunity to hear a genuine glass-shattering belter with new material. The Vasquez/Mind Trap mixes are rather too American house sounding for these more soulful shores, but things catch fire once Ms H gets down to tearing and turning the strong song inside-out with a dynamite performance. Beats aside, the vocals are difficult to fault (there’s even an accapella which I hope someone will pick up upon) making this a golden opportunity to hear a woman with so much diva-esque quality that it hurts.
